A field of purple flowers. In front of this field is a box, semi transparent. In it is the text: Here’s What Ace Men and Masculine Aligned Aces Want You To Know, by Elle Rose AKA scretladyspider, with contributions from the ace community.”

Old muscle cars. Dogs. Bottling up emotions, drinking a beer. Watching football on Sunday with the guys. Providing for a family. There are many things that in America are culturally associated with masculinity. Sometimes this is used as the punchline of a joke, such as when on the Red Green show each episodes ends with the man’s prayer: “I’m a man, and I can change. If I have to. I guess.”

Other times, it can be taken to extremes that cause harm to men, women, and all other genders, such as the transphobia and gendered expectations that come from conservative Republican politicians and speakers.

Sometimes it’s just silly and strange, like when the association extends to if you like drinking sugar in coffee at Starbucks.

No matter what it is, no matter the subject at hand, there are gendered expectations for that thing that likely are born of “traditional” (i.e. conservative Christian) values whether it is presented in a conservative space or not. Sexuality, the pursuit of sex, sexual pleasure, sexual acts, expressions of sexuality — these are no exception.

So, without further ado, here are some things that ace cis men, trans masculine, masculine, and nonbinary AMABs want you to know about them and their ace experiences.
